Walter van Canoy (1923-2001) was a Dutch singer and actor. He was born on June 26, 1923 in Maasbree. He studied at the conservatory and at the Akademie für Musik und Darstellende Kunste, where he graduated cum laude. Van Canoy worked for fifteen years in Austria, among others at the Opera in Graz. For Austrian television he performed as a singer and actor and worked there as a director and scriptwriter. He also recorded a number of records, which became so famous in the Netherlands that he settled permanently in Amsterdam. In the Netherlands he played in musicals, plays and TV series. The best known of these are undoubtedly My Fair Lady, The Man of La Mancha, The Tattooed Rose and the TV series Medisch Centrum West and On the Road to Tomorrow. Walter van Canoy was 78 years old.
