Tom Erich - Five o'clock tea No. 3 (1954) ) (Philips P 10046 R) (Minigroover 25 cm mono lp)
Tom Erich (Amsterdam, May 26, 1911 – Wageningen, August 23, 1978) was a Dutch pianist, composer and arranger.
Erich was a household name in the 50s and 60s: every Tuesday evening at a quarter past six, the AVRO radio broadcast its program Old and New, all kinds of things. Fifteen minutes of piano music, over 20 years. In the 1970s, the heyday of the radio ensembles was over. More and more gramophone records were played on the radio. Old and new, of everything that was discontinued. In an interview in Algemeen Dagblad, Erich said: “Well, I find that a bit difficult. Look, gradually there was more talk on the radio. There was more chatter. Before the news, during the news and behind the news. And very gradually I was no longer involved. I felt it coming. They did say that the interest was declining, but once the decision was made that I would stop with my program, then it was a big blow, of course."
